P152

The guides moved to Moro kopjes in Southern Serengeti yesterday. Today Sean had them on top of a kopje at 0530am to see the sunrise and listen to the dawn chorus of birds. By the end of the year they will know every sound that chirp.

P138

These are egg sacks of the Black widow spider. The spiky balls are a great way to id this spider. The Brown widow spider have smooth egg sacks. They are neuro-toxi and free living spiders meaning they hunt their food down and don't use webs. They only use silk when laying the egg sacks.

Grows on kopjes and in the dry season looks completely dry. Add a bit of water and it comes 'to life'. Use to make fire in the dry stage by turning binoculars upside down.

Only guide in camp right now is James so he had encyclopedias of info thrown to him from two over eager guide trainers. Rest of the guides will be in camp later today.

The next few posts will be information and pictures of things we saw this morning. If it is too much 'nature' for your liking don't read it!!! At least it's better than keeping you updated in your friends rubbish facebook games!

Enjoy!

Wayo Africa/ Green Footprint Adventures is 1 week from the arrival of guide trainer extrodanaire! Sean Robertson a level 3 FGASA instructor will be joining us for a year where we will embark on an epic year of guide training. However, we need to get Sean and his pops out of Malawi on air...stuck in Blantyre for the past few days due to a fuel crisis. 10km long queues at filling stations and watered down diesel at a gazillion dollars a liter. This is all after real helpful border officials at Beightbridge, Zim and Malawi assisted to make the trip thus far such a pleasure - NOT! So I am sure Sean is ready for a few days wait on a pretty beach in Northern Malawi while the 'really helpful' importation agents of Tz help us clear the new car and camp, thanks boys, glad to know we are all on the same side!

Our training will commence in January and besides training existing Tanzanian safari guides and park rangers we will also train a few street boys thanks to funding from Explore Tanzania www.exploretanzania.com
